5 Key Differences Between Hypercontext and Hugo

Hugo offers much richer knowledge management and search functionality to support the cross-functional, ever evolving needs of information transfer between teams.

While Hypercontext has its roots in internal and one-on-one meetings, Hugo’s origins come from a perspective centered on team meetings, internal and external, in a hybrid & remote world. These underlying differences show up in the way each platform is structured and who it’s structured for. With Hugo, all your docs are automatically linked to the following objects:

  • Meeting title
  • Meeting attendee
  • Doc author
  • Doc mention
  • Doc tag
  • Doc text

This allows your documents to be fully searchable which is invaluable for knowledge management, cross-functional collaboration, external meeting heavy departments (e.g. sales & customer success), and much more. With advanced multivariate search, you can find your notes even if you can’t remember the meeting details (e.g. notes that I saved that were also attended by someone in Acme Company). Searches can also be saved and pinned for repeat use to quickly access the information you need when you need it. By contrast, Hypercontext’s app search functionality is limited to a standard text search.

Hugo supports a simpler, clearer user interface that drives meaningful action.

User interface is ultimately a matter of preference, but every design decision in Hugo's platform has been made with intentionality. Hugo’s design philosophy includes the following:

  • Simple dashboard & navigation - The product home screen, which is easily accessible with the Chrome extension, features a quick summary of your events, documents, and tasks for the day. This drives best-practices and builds good habits for individuals to prepare for their meetings with agendas and complete outstanding meeting tasks.
  • Calendar design - The familiar calendar design on the left side of the screen facilitates easy access of your meetings in a chronological format that’s readily understood.
  • Attendee data - From any detail screen of a calendar meeting, you can quickly view attendee data and ascertain whether they are team members or outside guests. These details  support a better approach for when and how to share documents and tasks for every type of meeting, internal and external.
  • Unified view of documents and tasks - Hugo’s calendar detail pages facilitate quick viewing and editing of meeting documents and tasks. This is incredibly useful for efficiently taking notes and follow-up action items during a meeting or reviewing them afterwards.
  • Faster task creation, assignment and tracking - Tasks can be created anytime from the right hand panel of a meeting. You can assign due dates and task participants with just a few clicks.

Hugo offers more comprehensive task management to help meeting participants stay aligned.

Support for multiple assignees - Tracking task completion across multiple assignees enables you to track a single shared task with ease (e.g. update biweekly team agenda metrics assigned to 8 people).

Track tasks based on assignee, meeting title, meeting attendee, or tags - Hugo’s dedicated task tracking page and search functionality also enables you to view your own or other people’s tasks with rich search filters. This functionality can help you stay in the know on what needs to get done, by who, by what point.

Hugo supports a broader range of integrations to integrate your meetings, notes, and tasks off-platform.

While Hypercontext supports only core integrations with Slack, Microsoft Outlook / Teams, Google Calendar / Meet, and Zapier integrations, Hugo supports a much broader range of integrations that support the way modern teams work.

  • Chat - Slack, Teams
  • CRM - Salesforce, Hubspot, Copper, Freshsales, Pipedrive
  • Project Management - Asana, Clickup, Confluence, GitHub, Jira, Todoist, Trello
  • Video Conferencing - Google Meet, BlueJeans, Loom, Zoom

Collectively, Hugo’s investment in supporting direct integrations reflects a commitment to supporting best-in-class software solutions for teams. Integrations are first-class citizens as part of the Hugo platform and can be prominently leveraged both in and off platform.

Hugo enables more granular user-level privacy controls to ensure important information is shared with the right people at the right time.

For private documents, Hugo allows for easy access to controls at the document-level. Users can opt between private, specific users, or team-wide privacy settings to ensure appropriate access for critical information.

For public documents, Hugo supports public links with guest collaboration permissions (set as view only or edit). Sharing settings also support the option to set expiration policies on shared access. The range of sharing solutions provides incredible flexibility for a variety of external meeting needs.

Administrators on the Hugo platform can also set privacy defaults to facilitate appropriate sharing of meeting information.
